Got engaged in two continents at once

Getting married is an exciting and let;s be honest, rather big step for your relationship. But how awesome is to get engaged! I actually enjoyed my engagement so much, it was like a pre-wedding ceremony (maybe it just a girl thing) One of the most beautiful moments in my life.
He proposed me in two continents at the same time!
When is the right time for a long-distance relationship?
So when is the right time to propose your long-distance love? Well, at the time he proposed me, I was living in Sri Lanka and he had a work in Cyprus. And we met in Istanbul. I would say there it’s no such a big deal you have a long-distance relationship unless you have 3 things: rich history, passion for each other and common idea of the future.
Being together for 6 years, we used to live together for 3 years intensively in an apartment in Bratislava and here and there I traveled around the world for modeling and professional trainings. For a week, two, month of even three. Living in Sri Lanka already for half a year, this was the hardest time for us to live apart for some time. But we knew one thing – we plan a future together.
Special place to propose
We met in Istanbul to enjoy some time together. It was close to his job, easy for me to fly from Colombo to Istanbul and we have good friends in there. Perfect, easy. It was one sunny day, when we decided to go for a walk, to have some nice black tea somewhere in the vivid Istanbul city center. After nice lunch and coffee break, exploring the streets of this buzzing metropole full of tastes and sounds, we walked beside the Bosphorus.
Long walk made me tired, feeling like we should go back and have a good rest. But Igor was acted like a crazy guide, holding my hand and encourage me to walk with him further beside the canal.
I recognized he might have planned a something for us.
Exhausted with shaky legs I sat down as we reached the port. Igor went to check with sailors nearby. Watching him walking from side to side, talking to different guys, I was just having fun sitting on the sidewalk with a smile. We are going to the boat, how sweet is that!
One quick look at me and I approached him slowly walking to one beautiful speedboat, whereas three Arabic women in burqa were just getting off.
‘Darling, you’re soo sweet, love you!’
Glass and kisses
It turned out the speed boat was booked only for us with a personal driver. Sitting at the tip of the boat, watching sun going down, feeling hot wind on my face I felt amazing. Cozy mattress was perfect for lying down and watching passing buildings on the sides. Igor disappear for a moment, I haven’t realized at the moment. All of the sudden he whistle from the upper level, standing behind the second rudder to join him.
I was so tired and wanted to stay down, not move and just absorb that energy of the almost sunset time, when it’s not too hot but still light.
It happened within a second. Holding me tight from behind, touching my hands, squeezing unusually. Watching picturesque Istanbul. On my back I felt he kinda slipped down, released my hands.. I turned and spot him kneeling on the floor. It couldn’t be more magical…
Talking to me, I couldn’t focus on his words, my eyes were full of teardrops, I took a deep breath..his eyes were amazingly blue full of honesty and love..and I said yes. Sitting on the floor, tightly embraced, I said say…I said ‘Of course yes’…
I remember the boat was swinging from side to side, the captain brought us some snacks right during our intimate moment and as he left, glass felt down on the floor. We use to break porcelain for good luck as a part of our wedding ceremony, it was magical.
And he kissed me and I kissed him. Boat full of people moving nearby spot us and started to whistle and clap their hands. I raised my hand with the ring following even bigger, massive cheering ..
So there, in between two continents, he proposed me, in two places at once..
..and then we went to celebrate this great news with our friends and some Brazilian steaks..
