CZECH REPUBLIC: Trip to Snezka hill in 4
Written by Lea
Have you ever been to Prague? Well, yeah, Czech capital is undoubtedly of the most exquisite cities in Europe (and world, too). But, there is much more to explore within Czech republic.
The last time we have visited our friends in Hradec Kralove, another popular Czech cities, to explore the Czech highest hill – Snezka.
Delicious Czech food
You know, food in Czech republic is of the best in the world! Even it might be quite heavy, lots of potatoes and rice and meat, you can enjoy solid cuisine with traditional “touch”. Czech people like to drink outside, but they definitely prefer to cook for themselves at home and enjoy that intimate atmosphere. And then go drink some beer to the nearest pub.
We had some nice dinner with Czech fellows fulfilling our stomach for a long journey on Snezka hill.
The plan was to have some sleep after dinner to start at night to catch the sunrise.
Arriving to Pec pod Snezkou city
From Hradec Kralove we went by car, which you can also easily rent one, to city called Pec pod Snezkou. It sounds a bit funny, since “Pec” in Czech exactly means oven and “Snezka” is derivation from the nous “sneh”, which means snow.
Starting around 2 o’clock in the morning wasn’t easy, but we had a goal – to spot the sunrise from Snezka hill. The last adjustments, leavingthe car on the parking place and start walking.
Where is the footpath?
We were expecting wood, mud, branches and slippery roots. Surprise!
There was only a concrete pavement! All the way long. Honestly, it was a bit disappointment, mainly for my man. He just loves to overcome obstacles. Here it was just too easy, walk on a solid ground with no challenges.
On the top of Snezka hill
Shortly after 5 o’clock, after an hour of waiting, all frozen, we finally witnessed it. The sunrise! It was quite nice, but nothing extraordinary special, honestly. One nice sunrise.
It was quite nice, but nothing extraordinary, honestly. One nice sunrise, nothing more, nothing less.
After this trip, I would personally recommend to go to Snezka hill. You can always said you have been to the highest peak of Czech republic, ha-ha. However, do not expect any breathtaking trip or view from the top, neither hike to bee too exhausting.
